Senior Administrative Assistant
Dakota Electric Association is seeking a highly capable, organized and trusted Senior Administrative Assistant to provide effective and efficient administrative support to the organization’s leadership, including the Board of Directors, CEO, and Executive Leadership Team. Under the direction of the Director of Executive Services, this role ensures smooth governance operations, supports board and executive activities, manages key administrative processes, and maintains a high level of professionalism, discretion, and accuracy. Success in this role is highly dependent upon strong communication, adaptability, attention to detail, follow‑through, and a proactive, continuous improvement‑focused approach to supporting leaders and organizational operations.
In this role, you will:
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Board of Directors, CEO, and Executive Leadership Team.
- Prepare and manage Board and Committee meeting materials, presentations, and action items.
- Support Board operations functions, including elections and management of board software.
- Schedule, organize and coordinate internal and external meetings, trainings, events, and engagement activities, including logistics, travel, catering, and other arrangements.
- Support financial and accounting processes such as expense reports, reimbursements, invoices, and reconciliations.
- Assist with strategic project execution.
- Serve as the organization’s manager of policies, procedures, and operating guidelines, overseeing the comprehensive process of creation, approval, communication, implementation and maintenance.
- Maintain mailing lists, databases, electronic, and paper files.
- Provide backup support to other administrative staff.
Compensation & Benefits
Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 annually

Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Seven years as an Administrative Assistant or similar role, with demonstrated progressively advanced experience supporting executives/senior leaders and board directors/members.
Preferred Qualifications/Competencies:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
- Trusted, professional partner who exercises discretion, maintains confidentiality, and supports senior leaders and the Board with integrity.
- Highly organized and proactive, able to anticipate needs, and handle multiple high impact tasks accurately.
- Strong communicator and relationship builder who interacts effectively with executives, Board members, internal teams, and external partners.
- Detail-oriented and standards focused, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance in documents, processes, and governance requirements.
- Adaptable and improvement-minded, comfortable with evolving and competing priorities, new technologies, and recommending process enhancements for increased efficiency.
