Energy Management Specialist II

McLeod Cooperative Power Association (MCPA) is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Energy Management Specialist II to join our Member Services team.

                This position plays an important role in helping our members use electricity efficiently and economically. The Energy Management Specialist II implements MCPA’s load management and energy conservation programs, provides energy management services to members, and educates members and contractors on energy efficiency and beneficial electrification.

Responsibilities/Functions include:

  •  Provide energy management services to current and prospective members, including high bill inquires, in-home evaluations, and energy audits.
  • Advise members on appropriate equipment and energy-efficient solutions.
  • Install, repair, and maintain load management, energy conservation, generator, and beneficial electrification equipment.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for members regarding load management, energy conservation, generator sales, and beneficial electrification programs.
  • Promote MCPA programs and educate members on the benefits of off-peak energy use.
  • Prepare energy cost comparisons, operating cost analyses, and rate comparisons for members.
  • Administer load management and energy conservation programs and maintain related records.
  • Process member rebates and energy grants and coordinate low-income energy programs.
  • Perform maintenance and warranty repairs on consumer-owned and Cooperative generators.
  • Disconnect and reconnect meters when needed to allow work on the member side of the meter.
  • Work closely with members, contractors, Great River Energy, and MCPA staff to coordinate energy programs and installations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two-year technical degree plus two or more years of electrical or HVAC construction experience; or two or more years of equivalent technical experience; or experience selling technical, electrical, or HVAC products.
  • Experience performing installations in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to perform residential, agricultural, and light commercial wiring services.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency and conservation practices.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Commitment to making safety a priority.
